Honoring NASA’s Hidden Figures and Advocating for OPSU in D.C.

University President Dr. Julie Dinger represented Oklahoma Panhandle State University at the historic Congressional Gold Medal ceremony on September 18, 2024. Hosted at Emancipation Hall in Washington, D.C., the event celebrated the legacies of NASA's "Hidden Figures" Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, and Christine Darden. Invited by Representative Frank Lucas, Dr. Dinger was honored to witness this moment recognizing the pioneers who shaped the future of space exploration while breaking down racial and gender barriers.

Dr. Dinger expressed her sincere gratitude to Representative Lucas for this remarkable opportunity. "Attending this event was not only a privilege but a reminder of the power of perseverance and education in transforming our world. During her time in D.C., Dr. Dinger met with Senators James Lankford and Markwayne Mullin to discuss how OPSU serves as a cornerstone for workforce development and economic growth in Oklahoma.
