Travel Advisory

June 8, 2026 - Northeastern Colorado - Closures required for roadway reconstruction near Mead for I-25 North Express Lanes Project, Mead to Berthoud

Weld County - The Colorado Department of Transportation and the I-25 North Express Lanes Project temporarily closed the I-25 East Frontage Road south of Weld County Road 32 through Wednesday, July 8, at 5 p.m.

Crews will reconstruct and repave both lanes of the Frontage Road between WCR 32 and Camelot Circle. Access to nearby businesses will be maintained, and viable detour routes and speed limit reductions will be posted.

Also, there will be a temporary full closure of WCR 32 under I-25 starting Saturday, June 27, at 7 a.m. through Wednesday, July 8, at 5 p.m. Work will primarily consist of removing existing roadway material, placing new base material and roadway asphalt, and pouring new curbs where needed.

Detours will be in place:

  • Eastbound WCR 32 traffic will take Weld County Road 7 south to Colorado Highway 66, turn east to Weld County Road 9.5, and turn north to WCR 32.
  • Westbound WCR 32 traffic will take WCR 9.5 south to CO 66, turn west to WCR 7, and turn north to WCR 32.

This work is part of the I-25 North Express Lanes Project, Mead to Berthoud, which includes reconstructing and widening bridges along this section of I-25. Full closures increase safety for the traveling public and crews while decreasing the duration of traffic impacts. Construction is weather-dependent and subject to change.

Travel impacts:

Motorists can expect the following impacts:

  • Full closure of northbound and southbound I-25 East Frontage Road south of WCR 32
  • Monday, June 8, at 7 a.m. through Wednesday, July 8, at 5 p.m.
  • Full closures of eastbound and westbound WCR 32 under I-25
  • Saturday, June 27, at 7 a.m. through Wednesday, July 8, at 5 p.m.

Please visit codot.gov/projects/north-i-25, for the most current travel updates. The I-25 North Express Lanes Project: Mead to Berthoud section is a continuation of the approximately 20 miles of improvements that have been completed on I-25 between Berthoud to Fort Collins over the past six years. This approximately 6-mile project will expand and enhance I-25, from Colorado Highway 66 in Mead and connect to the newly built portion of I-25 just south of CO 56 in Berthoud. Once complete in 2028, this project will complete a major missing puzzle piece on I-25 and will be the first time there will be more than two lanes of I-25 from Denver to Fort Collins in both directions.
