Community invited to witness transition of two homes from exhibits to local landmarks

• What: Pinellas County invites the community to the "Dedication to Designation" Ceremony, marking the designation of the Plant-Sumner House and The House of Seven Gables as local historic landmarks at Heritage Village on Saturday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Board of County Commissioners Vice Chair Chris Latvala and Commissioner and Historic Preservation Board Chairman Brian Scott will each give addresses reflecting on the structures' 50-year journey.

• When: Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Remarks will be made at 11:30 a.m.

• Where: Heritage Village, 11909 125th St. N., Largo.

The "Dedication to Designation" ceremony is part of Heritage Village's 50th Anniversary celebrations. The homes' designations mark a transition to permanent landmark status, honoring five decades of historical stewardship at Heritage Village.

"This milestone honors the 1976 vision that inspired the founding Heritage Village," said Monica Drake, Historical Museum Operations Manager. "By granting these structures formal protection, we ensure the Pinellas County story displayed within these walls remains a permanent part of our County's legacy."

Throughout 2026, visitors are encouraged to participate in anniversary-themed exhibits and the ongoing Oral History Project, which seeks to archive personal testimonials of Pinellas County life.

Admission to the park and ceremony is free. For a full calendar of 50th anniversary events, visit heritagevillagefl.org/50thanniversary.
