September is National Emergency Preparedness Month!

It's a great day to be a Bobcat - and a safe one, too. Georgia College & State University Department of Public Safety is proud to join the nationwide effort to raise awareness about the importance of emergency readiness.

Preparedness is a shared responsibility, and we encourage our campus community - students, faculty and staff - to take a few simple but critical steps:

  1. Preparedness Saves Lives - Taking time now to prepare can make all the difference in an emergency.
  2. Know Your Hazards - From severe weather and power outages to campus safety alerts, awareness is the first step toward resilience.
  3. Make a Plan - Have a communication and evacuation plan. Know where to go and how to stay connected.
  4. Build an Emergency Kit - Keep essentials ready, including water, food, medications, flashlights and important documents.
  5. Stay Informed - Sign up for Bobcat Alert, monitor campus emails, and follow official GCSU channels for timely updates.
  6. Practice and Train - Participate in campus safety drills and review procedures with your department, residence hall or team.
  7. Community Preparedness - At GCSU, we are stronger together. Looking out for each other builds a safer, more resilient Bobcat Nation.

Stay tuned throughout the month for tips, resources and training opportunities that will help you and our community be ready for anything.
