Media Advisory: City of San José Leaders Kick Off Ocala Avenue Safety Improvements

The City of San José is excited to host a kickoff ceremony to the Ocala Avenue Safety Improvement Project. The project will add a raised median island that replaces the current two-way left turn lane on Ocala Avenue. This change aims to improve and add safety enhancements for all people who walk, roll, bike, or drive.

This marks a second phase of safety improvements at this location. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-December. This project is funded by the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), a federal program that uses a data-driven, performance-based approach to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads.
