Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman participated on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, in the meeting of foreign ministers of the member states of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) held in Sarajevo.

Croatia welcomes the focus of Bosnia and Herzegovina's presidency on EU enlargement in the context of macro-regional cooperation. Macro-regional strategies have proven to be valuable tools in supporting the EU accession process, creating an environment in which candidate countries can cooperate on an equal footing with member states.

"Our joint work also provides an opportunity for our friends from the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership to work effectively on EU priorities and strengthen their capacities," said Grlić Radman, adding that Croatia will continue to actively encourage all efforts - including those within macro-regional strategies - aimed at accelerating enlargement, based on the implementation of membership criteria, including the promotion of good neighbourly relations, particularly with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"We strongly advocate, both politically and diplomatically, for the importance of amending the electoral law to ensure equality of the constituent peoples, so that Croats can elect their legitimate political representatives and the country as a whole can progress on its European path," the minister emphasised on the margins of the conference.

During his stay, Grlić Radman met with Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Amer Kapetanović. Since the establishment of the RCC, Croatia has supported its role as the operational body of the SEECP, which coordinates the implementation of strategic documents for the development and integration of the Western Balkans region, as well as the contribution of the RCC Secretariat in coordinating the implementation of strategic priorities and fostering economic integration among Western Balkan countries.

While in Sarajevo, the minister also met with the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto. Croatia continues to consider it of key importance that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains politically stable and advances on its European path. It is essential to work on ensuring the functionality of institutions and strengthening their long-term stability. Reform of the Electoral Law is necessary to enable Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate equally in political life at all levels of government and to ensure their legitimate representation in institutions. Croatia continues to provide political and diplomatic support to help Bosnia and Herzegovina join Euro-Atlantic integrations as soon as possible.

At the end of his visit to Sarajevo, Grlić Radman met with the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Tomo Vukšić. They discussed strategic projects vital to the preservation of the Croatian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Government of the Republic of Croatia will continue to support the preservation and restoration of buildings that for centuries have served as gathering places of the Croatian people and have fostered Croatian language, culture, and art.
