We would like to alert the public to the existence on the social network Instagram of a fake profile, at present only in Italian, that uses the name and logo of Banca d'Italia without authorization in order to attract followers it then invites to join a WhatsApp group that purportedly provides advice on financial services.

Banca d'Italia would like to make it very clear that it has no connection whatsoever with such profile and activities and does not offer any investment or money management services to individuals. Steps have already been taken to have the fake account removed.

We therefore recommend that you:

• do not respond to any similar messages or requests received;
• do not provide any personal or banking information or copies of any type of ID;
