WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) released the following statement after voting against the Republican bill that fails to address their manufactured healthcare crisis and leave millions of Americans paying more for healthcare. Republicans previously chose to shut down the government for 42 days - the longest government shutdown in American history - than work on a solution that keeps healthcare affordable.
"After a 54-day vacation, Republicans finally came back to Washington to vote on a bill that makes their healthcare crisis worse for millions of Americans. I heard stories from constituents across the San Fernando Valley - and across the country - about how the Republican healthcare crisis will force their premiums to soar and put healthcare out of reach. I voted NO on the Republicans' bill because it does nothing to protect the nearly 60,000 of my constituents who will lose their healthcare because of Republicans' repeated attacks on healthcare.
"I will continue to stand by my constituents and protect their right to access affordable healthcare."
