The City of New Orleans announced beginning Monday, Nov. 18, at
9 a.m., South Claiborne Avenue between Octavia Street and CalhounStreet will be reduced to two lanes of vehicular traffic to facilitate a series of roadway restoration tasks. This work will restore the cross section onto State Street Drive. Pedestrian travel near the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and State Street Drive will be limited during this time.
Public safety is our top priority; New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) will be present on-site and will also perform Intermittent Traffic Control (ITC) as appropriate to temporarily stop traffic for up to five minutes at a time to facilitate crane operations. Traffic lanes and sidewalks will reopen at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6.

Since May 2018, DPW has completed 217 projects with an estimated value of $1.12 billion. Today, 34 roadwork projects are under construction with an estimated value of nearly $553 million.
