Energy Bills Relief Act Would Lower Household Energy Costs, Expand Clean Energy Access, Strengthen Grid Reliability

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Legislation introduced by U.S. Representatives. Sean Casten (D-Ill.) and Mike Levin (D-Calif.) will help lower energy bills for families while accelerating investments in clean energy and a more reliable electric grid. The Energy Bills Relief Act would reduce the growing costs of household electric bills by expanding programs that help families improve energy efficiency and access affordable clean energy, all while boosting community renewable energy projects and modernizing energy infrastructure to meet growing demand.

"Families across the country are feeling the strain of rising electricity bills, and we need smart policies that provide relief now while strengthening our energy system for the future," said Shannon Heyck-Williams, associate vice president for climate and energy at the National Wildlife Federation. "This legislation from Representatives Casten and Levin helps families now by making it easier to access affordable clean energy that can be brought online quickly and is healthier for our communities than fossil fuels. We look forward to working with them to ensure that solutions to our clean energy needs include even stronger safeguards for wildlife, public lands, and the communities that rely upon them."<_u13a_p>

The legislation would restore and expand programs that help households reduce energy consumption, install and access clean energy, and provide energy assistance to millions of families. The Energy Bills Relief Act would also restore clean energy tax credits for households and small businesses and protect local clean energy projects from being blocked by federal overreach. These and other measures will reduce pollution and strain on the electric grid.<_u13a_p>

The Energy Bills Relief Act also includes measures to strengthen energy infrastructure and modernize grid technologies to improve reliability and reduce costs for consumers. These investments would help ensure that the power grid can meet rising electricity demand, such as from data centers, while maintaining dependable service for homes and businesses.
