Adelphi, Md. - October 21, 2025 - University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) is pleased to announce that Wendy Turner-Williams has joined the university as a strategic advisor to lead and coordinate enterprise data and artificial intelligence (AI) efforts. A globally recognized Chief Data & AI Officer, Turner-Williams brings more than two decades of experience driving transformation at leading organizations including Microsoft, Salesforce, Tableau, and Accenture.
Turner-Williams will play a key role in shaping UMGC's next-generation AI ecosystem, aligning innovation with the university's mission of accessibility, quality, and impact. Her work will include leading the rollout of UMGC's institutional AI guidelines and ensuring the responsible and transparent use of emerging technologies. She will serve within the Office of Information Technology, complementing and enhancing the university's broader technology strategy.
Throughout her career, Turner-Williams has led enterprise-wide transformations in AI-driven product strategy, data governance, cloud modernization, and AI risk management-delivering measurable impact across global organizations. She has built global communities of practice, mentored emerging leaders, and shaped ethical AI frameworks aligned with international standards.
In addition to her corporate leadership, Turner-Williams serves as an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University, and as a Founder's and AI Board member for the Information School at the University of Washington. Wendy is also the founder of TheAssociation-AI.org, a global nonprofit focused on ethical AI. Her thought leadership has been featured in publications such as Forbes, CIO Inc., and DataIQ, and she has received numerous accolades including Top 10 Most Influential in Data & AI and AI for Good Champion.
