The seventh meeting of the AI Board brought together participants to discuss the latest developments in the Commission's AI strategy.

On Friday 20 March, the AI Board met under the chairmanship of the Cypriot Presidency of the EU to discuss and review the current priorities for implementing the AI Continent Action Plan and the AI Act.

AI Continent Action Plan

The Commission presented the progress and successes from the first year of the AI Continent Action Plan, including an update on the implementation of the Apply AI Strategy. It then outlined the next steps for aligning national AI strategies. The discussion also focused on how to encourage companies to develop, deploy and integrate AI solutions tailored to their industrial sectors.

AI Act

The Chairs and Vice-Chairs of the Working Groups presented the second draft of the Code of Practice on labelling and marking of AI-generated content followed by questions and answers. The second draft integrates written feedback from hundreds of participants and observers, including industry, academia, civil society and other stakeholders. The draft also incorporates contributions from Member States (submitted via the AI Board) and Members of the European Parliament.

The Cyprus Council Presidency also provided an update on the progress of the negotiations of the Digital Omnibus on AI to the AI Board, highlighting the recent achievement of the Council mandate on 13 March 2026. The AI Board also discussed other updates related to the AI Act's implementation.

Further discussions

During the meeting, the AI Board discussed the progress in the set of national AI regulatory sandboxes and exchanged good practice examples.

Finally, AI Board members discussed and endorsed documents prepared by the AI Board's subgroup, in particular three reports which will be published shortly.
