Grand Prairie is deep in the heart of everything, so it's no surprise Emmy Award-winning show The Day Tripper is putting this vibrant community front and center of its Season 16 premiere episode Saturday October 4.
The City of Grand Prairie is celebrating the launch of the PBS show's newest episode with public screenings at downtown's FireHouse Gastro Park.
The Main Street favorite is one of several Grand Prairie attractions featured in the highly-anticipated episode. Working with show host Chet Garner and the production crew was a memorable experience for the FireHouse team, according to co-owner Jason Smith.
"Chet was so present and genuinely interested in our destination and in Grand Prairie as a whole," Smith said. "He made everyone feel special, took time to go behind the scenes, and had great conversations with us. He was down to try everything and put in the work, and if someone comes in and wants to 'have what Chet had,' just let us know. We'll make it happen."
FireHouse is hosting its October 4 screenings paired with a delicious brunch menu at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a.m. As a special treat, Visit Grand Prairie will cover the cost of the first 25 coffees of the day.
Other familiar Grand Prairie favorites make appearances throughout the episode, from Downtown landmarks like Zavala's Barbecue, Fire Station #1, the Grand Prairie Farmers Market, and the Uptown Theater. Viewers will also catch glimpses of Grand Prairie's distinctive public murals, along with stunning views of EpicCentral's Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark, Bolder Adventure Park, and Illuvia, Grand Prairie's dazzling Vegas-style water-and-light spectacular.
The episode captures the quality, flavor, and breadth of destination offerings that help Grand Prairie live up to its name, according to Sara Dedeluk, director of Visit Grand Prairie.
"We were delighted to welcome Chet and his crew to our city and thrilled to showcase our unique blend of attractions," Dedeluk said. "This episode isn't just for visitors-it's also for our residents, who may discover new adventures and hidden gems right in their own backyard."
Keep an eye out for more hidden gems throughout the episode by attending one of the public screenings, or watching The Day Tripper on KERA Saturday, October 4 at 10 a.m.
