Fatal Fire In The 7000 Block Of Majestic Bay Street
Cause Of The Fire Is Under Investigation
On Wednesday, July 29 at 7:10 p.m., Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and the North Las Vegas Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a one-story residence in the 7000 block of Majestic Bay Street.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers were already in the area on an unrelated call and began evacuating neighboring residences as firefighters responded. The first fire unit arrived eight minutes after dispatch and found the residence fully engulfed in flames. Crews initiated operations to contain and extinguish the fire.
After the fire was brought under control, crews conducted primary and secondary searches of the residence. During the search process, crews located the body of a deceased adult inside the residence.
Two Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers were evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation and did not require transportation to a medical facility.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. There is $150,000 in estimated damages to the home. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue personnel will conduct the department's After the Fire community outreach program in the surrounding neighborhood to provide residents with fire-safety information, answer questions and address community concerns.
