Rep. Vasquez Named One of the Most Bipartisan Members of Congress

WASHINGTON D.C. - On August 17, 2026, U.S. Representative Gabe Vasquez (NM-02) was awarded the most bipartisan member of New Mexico's Congressional Delegation.

"I'm proud to receive one of the highest scores for bipartisanship in Congress because since day one, I've been working for everyone in my district, not any party or any special interest," said Vasquez. "Right now, New Mexicans are struggling through a worsening economy and massive corruption in Washington - they want someone who will work for them, not their party or the president. I'm willing to work with anyone across the aisle who is serious about lowering costs, making healthcare and housing affordable, reducing crime, and protecting our public lands. I've proven that, and I'll continue working on behalf of the people who elected me."

This is the second time in a row Rep. Vasquez has received an "A" from Bridge Grades, a nonprofit report card for Congress, for his ongoing willingness to break party ranks and work with anyone to deliver commonsense wins for New Mexicans. Vasquez's bipartisanship score ranked higher than over 90% of all Members of Congress.

Vasquez was also ranked as one of the most effective freshman Democrats in Congress during his first term by the Center for Effective Lawmaking, based on his record of passing legislation and working to deliver results for New Mexico.

Rep. Vasquez's many bipartisan accomplishments include:

  • Founding the Bipartisan Public Lands Caucus to stop the selloff of our public lands, expand recreation opportunities, and ensure these spaces are preserved for future generations
  • Passing the bipartisan Aerial Firefighting Enhancement Act into law, signed by President Trump, to strengthen the aerial wildfire suppression fleet and better combat the year-round threat of catastrophic wildfires
  • Leading the effort to pass the bipartisan Secure Rural Schools Reauthorization Act of 2025, which was signed into law, restoring $9 million in annual federal support for rural New Mexico counties to fund essential infrastructure like roads and schools
  • Securing nine wins for New Mexico in the 2026 Farm Bill, and was one of only 14 Democrats to vote for its passage in the House, including bipartisan language to stop the Administration from undercutting New Mexican cattle ranchers
  • Introducing his bipartisan Secure Our Skies Drone Safety Act, endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police, to ensure that law enforcement agencies' use of drones and counter-drone technology are keeping pace with rapidly evolving threats to public safety and national security
  • Leading and passing the bipartisan Fix Our Forest Act to address wildfire impacts by allowing agencies to work together to tackle wildfire risks
  • Championing the bipartisan Parity for Tribal Educators Act to address teacher shortages in Indian Country
  • Passing the Combatting Organized Retail Crime Act out of the House, a bill Vasquez co-led to keep products on the shelves, not behind lock and key
