Announcing the next dean of the College of Business and Public Policy

Dear UAA Community,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Pete Sherman has been selected as the next dean for the College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP). He will officially begin his new role July 12.

With over 15 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Sherman brings a fresh perspective to CBPP and UAA. He comes to Alaska from Minnesota State University Moorhead, where he was dean of business, analytics and communications. Dr. Sherman previously served as dean of Western Colorado University's School of Business and University of Evansville's Schroeder Business School. Prior to his time in higher education, he worked in the financial industry at TD Ameritrade and Chase.

I look forward to welcoming Dr. Sherman to UAA and supporting his engagement with the academic programs, research and other impactful programming of CBPP. I am excited that he brings a wealth of experience in community and industry partnerships, program development and accreditation.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Ph.D. of entrepreneurship, strategy), Creighton University (M.B.A.) and the University of Kansas (Bachelor of Arts in economics), Dr. Sherman's education makes him uniquely qualified to guide the students of CBPP into the Alaska workforce.

We look forward to welcoming Dr. Sherman to campus later this summer and know that he will be a great addition to CBPP and the Seawolf family.

I thank the search committee for its diligent efforts, as well as all those who participated in the hiring process.

Denise K. Runge
UAA Provost
