Taft, one of the fastest-growing law firms in the country, announced today that partner John A. Stapleton has joined the firm's growing Chicago office. Stapleton arrived from Loeb & Loeb and focuses his practice on the representation of clients in domestic and international corporate and securities transactions.
Taft has added more than 30 lateral attorneys to its Chicago office over the past year, which now has approximately 190 lawyers.
Stapleton advises issuers and underwriters in a variety of public and private securities transactions, including initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, debt offerings and special purpose acquisition company transactions.
In addition, Stapleton has extensive experience representing Japanese and U.S. companies in a variety of cross-border corporate and capital markets transactions. Fluent in Japanese, he lived in Japan for six years and currently serves as an independent director on the board of directors of a U.S. listed Japanese real estate company.
"We're excited to welcome John to the firm as our Chicago office continues to grow," said Cezar "Cid" M. Froelich, Taft Chicago Partner and Chairman. "John adds a great depth of experience steering clients through complex transactions and navigating both public and private capital markets."
"John's international experience, particularly in Japan, complements the work we are already doing in the region for a variety of clients and helps expand our services," said Paul Jenson, Partner-in-Charge of Taft's Chicago office. "He's a great fit for Taft as we continue to grow in Chicago and beyond."
Following the completion of three mergers in 2025, Taft is one of the fastest-growing law firms in the nation with more than 1,250 attorneys in 25 offices and projected revenues exceeding $1 billion.
