Lt. Governor Burt Jones Celebrates Senate Passage of Legislation to Protect Children

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, February 10, 2026

ATLANTA | Today, Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones celebrated the Georgia Senate passage of House Bill 54 to protect Georgia's children from life altering gender surgeries and experimental puberty blockers. The Georgia Senate will continue to stand up for the common-sense obligation to protect Georgia's minors from undergoing irreversible procedures before they are adults.

"I am proud to stand with the majority of the country that is taking action to protect our youth," said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. "We listened to parents, doctors, and concerned citizens, who wanted to keep radical medical procedures out of our children's hospitals. I will always fight for Georgia values and the safety of our kids."

Lt. Governor Burt Jones has led on protecting Georgia's children and families. In 2023, Lt. Governor Burt Jones championed the fight to pass Senate Bill 140, which put a stop to irreversible gender-affirming surgeries for minors and restricted hormone treatments for those under 18. House Bill 54 now goes to the Georgia House of Representatives for final passage.
