Mayor's Business Spotlight 2025 3rd Quarter Winner

Nestled along the scenic banks of the Indian River at 4845 Dixie Highway NE, The Shack Riverfront Restaurant & Tiki Bar stands as a testament to the spirit of Palm Bay-resilient, welcoming, and full of character. Proudly women- and veteran-owned, The Shack has served the community since the early 1950s and continues to grow as a staple destination for residents and visitors alike.

Known for its blend of vibrant atmosphere, exceptional cuisine, and commitment to community, The Shack is more than just a restaurant-it's a gathering place. Offering complimentary valet service upon arrival, guests are greeted with friendly hospitality and the promise of a memorable experience.

The Shack features two distinct dining experiences. Indoors, recent renovations have introduced a serene private dining room complete with a waterfall and an elevated menu curated in partnership with celebrity chefs. Outdoors, the lively Tiki Bar invites guests to enjoy casual dining in an open-air setting, adorned with island-inspired décor and a brand-new dock that welcomes boaters to pull up and stay awhile.

Since acquiring the business in 2019, local owners Rob and Kathy Kittleson have embraced the values that define Palm Bay: family, friendship, and community. Inspired by backyard cookouts and neighborhood gatherings, they have transformed The Shack into a thriving local hub that now welcomes over 100,000 guests each year. Under their leadership, the restaurant has not only flourished financially but has also created 25 new jobs-an investment that strengthens Palm Bay's local economy.

"Not only are they investing in our community, they are employing additional staff, employing more families and allowing these families to prosper in our city," said Mayor Rob Medina.

The Shack's impact extends far beyond its menu. A proud community partner, the restaurant regularly hosts family-friendly events including live music, karaoke, and bingo. It has also joined forces with organizations such as the American Legion to support veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. From hosting fundraisers for cancer awareness to honoring fallen heroes, The Shack continues to demonstrate what it means to serve with heart. Local schools and educators have also benefited from the restaurant's generosity, receiving thousands of dollars in donated gift cards.

As part of its continued commitment to excellence, The Shack recently welcomed Managing Partner Scott O'Daniel, a seasoned restaurateur with experience working alongside world-renowned chefs including Bobby Flay, Masaharu Morimoto, Cat Cora, and Geoffrey Zakarian. His influence has brought a fresh culinary perspective to Palm Bay, delivering a new menu that blends global flavors with Florida's rich coastal heritage.

One guest recently shared, "A great place to eat with a variety of menu options, especially the fresh seafood. The ambiance is beautiful, the service is friendly, and I can't wait to come back."

In recognition of its contributions to Palm Bay's economy, culture, and community spirit, The Shack Riverfront Restaurant & Tiki Bar was officially honored with a City Proclamation at the July 17th Regular City Council Meeting.
