Arrest - Homicide - West Barton Street
UPDATE
GREENSBORO, NC (April 30, 2026) - Greensboro Police arrested a man today in connection with a woman's homicide earlier this month.
The department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) arrested Damien Potts, 47, without incident at a relative's residence and charged him with first-degree murder for the homicide of Laci Brown.
Potts was taken to the Guilford County Jail and held without bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for May 1, according to online booking records.

Brown's family was notified about the arrest.

GREENSBORO, NC (April 18, 2026) - Greensboro Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old woman Friday night on West Barton Street.
GPD officers, Greensboro Fire, and Guilford County EMS responded to the reported shooting and found a woman inside a residence suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). The woman, later identified as Laci Brown, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she died of her injuries.
Detectives have questioned several individuals about this incident, which remains an active investigation. Additional details are not immediately available for release.
No arrests have been made at this time.
This is the city's seventh homicide of 2026.
