UNF ice hockey will compete in nationals at home in Jacksonville after winningest season in program history

The University of North Florida Ice Hockey Club is heading to the AAU Nationals for the first time in program history and will play at their home rink, the Community First Igloo. The first game, UNF vs St. John Fisher University, will take place at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11.

The team earned the spot with the winningest season in program history, 15 wins and 8 losses. George Brkljacic, a UNF freshman from Tampa, broke the AAU single-season record for most goals, having more than 60. He also scored more than 100 points this season.

"This is a tremendous accomplishment for our team after working hard all season," said Jeremy Diaz, UNF rising senior, team captain and club president. "We are honored to represent UNF on a national stage and so excited to compete in front of our fans in our own city."

The UNF hockey team joined the AAU's Atlantic Coast Conference this year after growing from seven full-time players last season to a full roster of 25 this season. The team reformed in 2022, after being established in 2012, and just completed their third season.

Tickets are available for preorder through the AAU website or can be purchased at the door on game day. AAU College Hockey will also host a food drive benefiting Feeding Northeast Florida, donations can be dropped off in the barrel in the lobby.
