FALL CURBSIDE LOOSE LEAF COLLECTION RULES

Green Bay Department of Public Works will begin curbside yard and garden waste collection on Monday, October 14, 2024. Residents are reminded that yard waste must be placed on the terrace andnot in the street. This rule is related to required compliance with Green Bay's storm sewer permit issued by Wisconsin DNR. Non-compliance with permit rules results in penalties imposed on the City, including regulatory fines.

Over the past three (3) years, the Department of Public Works (DPW) mailed educational notices to property owners who placed yard waste in the street. Beginning this fall without prior notice or warning, DPW will take another step by invoicing residents for yard waste collection IF placed in the street. If yard waste is placed on the terrace, there will be no invoice for collection.

DPW requests that residents refrain from piling yard waste in the street. It is understood this may not be a popular option. DPW prefers to not invoice for yard waste collection; however, invoices will be sent for noted violations to the rule.

Residents are reminded that raking leaves into the street (1) increases storm water pollution; (2) clogs stormwater inlets; (3) can attract kids to play in the street; and as noted above (4) violates terms of the City's storm sewer permit.

Please observe yard waste placement rules to help keep Green Bay clean and compliant with its storm sewer permit.

City of Green Bay yard waste centers are open daily (excluding holidays) from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. until Thanksgiving Day at the following locations for Green Bay residents who wish to haul yard waste themselves:

• 2530 East Shore Drive (east)

• 1470 Hurlbut Street (west)
