Randall and Cheryl Alsman have made a $1 million gift to the University of Evansville (UE), providing flexible and strategic support over the next five years to strengthen University operations and support UE's long-term success.

A portion of their gift will be directed to the UEvansville Fund, providing immediate-use support that strengthens the student experience and helps meet the University's most pressing needs, including scholarships, academic program support, faculty resources, and the day-to-day work that allows UE to remain responsive and student-centered.

The majority of their gift will be committed over the next five years to the University's Strategic Reserves Fund, further strengthening UE's long-term financial position and capacity to respond with agility to future opportunities and challenges. The Strategic Reserves Fund gives the University added capacity to pursue high-priority needs and long-term strategic investments that provide momentum and opportunity to advance UE's mission.

The gift builds on the Alsmans' long-standing relationship with UE and reflects their confidence in the University's direction following the success of FORWARD, the Campaign for the University of Evansville. Their leadership philanthropy is especially meaningful because it is not rooted in an alumni connection, but in a deep belief in the University's mission, its impact on the community and region, and its future. By choosing to give, they affirm the value of UE, the importance of higher education, and the University's continued role in preparing students, strengthening the region, and advancing the common good.

The Alsmans are proud Harrison High School graduates and are actively involved in the Evansville community they call home. Among other leadership roles, Randy serves as President of the Evansville Redevelopment Commission and is currently President of the Signature School Board and Signature School's Foundation Board. He has served on the UE Board of Trustees since 2017, following prior leadership as chair of the University's Board of Visitors, and he served as co-chair of the UE FORWARD Campaign, which surpassed its $125 million goal earlier this year. His professional career includes serving as President of Mead Johnson as well as in senior leadership roles with Bristol-Myers Squibb in New Jersey. Randy recently retired after 18 years as a Senior Investment Advisor with Donaldson Capital Management where he still serves as a member of Donaldson's Board of Directors.

Cheryl is an active volunteer in the local community through her faith, with a passion for humanitarianism, education, community development, and giving her time and resources to serve others. Through her involvement, she has helped strengthen meaningful causes and create purpose, connection, and opportunity throughout the community.

We wanted our gift to give the University the flexibility to meet immediate needs while continuing to build for the future."
