Middlebury Resident Charged with Sexual Assault

The Attorney General's Office today announced that Laurent Lussier Jr., 56, of Middlebury, Vermont, was arraigned on two counts of felony sexual assault. The charges brought against Mr. Lussier Jr. were the result of an investigation conducted by the Vermont State Police, New Haven Barracks.

Mr. Lussier Jr. pleaded not guilty at the arraignment today in Vermont Superior Court, Addison Criminal Division. The Court, Judge Alison Arms presiding, ordered Mr. Lussier Jr. to post an unsecured appearance bond of $5,000 and to obey conditions of release including an order to have no contact with the victim.

The Attorney General's Office emphasizes that individuals charged with a crime are legally presumed innocent until their guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
