Weekend update

Halifax Regional Police responded to 889 calls for service over the weekend. Some notable incidents are as follows:

Police charge man with robbery

On September 14 at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a robbery in progress at the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation, located at 955 Bedford Highway in Bedford. A man, with his face covered, entered the store, demanded money, and assaulted the employee with a wooded object. The suspect then fled the scene with a quantity of money. The employee sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 5:45 p.m., the suspect was located and arrested with assistance from the K9 unit.

Isaac Maclellan, 25, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Robbery
  • Disguise with intent
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death

Police investigate robbery

On September 13 at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers responded to robbery that occurred the Petro Canada gas station, located at 6389 Quinpool Road in Halifax. A man entered the store, immediately walked behind the checkout counter and proceeded to place packs of cigarettes inside a grocery bag. The suspect then fled the scene on foot with the quantity of cigarettes. The employee at the counter was not physically injured.

This incident is still under investigation.

Police charge a man in relation to a shooting in Halifax Friday evening

One man has been charged after shots were fired on Intercolonial Street in Halifax on Friday evening.

Andrew Joseph Dewolfe, 36, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Possession of a firearm - no license/certificate
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Tampering with serial number on firearm
  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death
  • Discharge firearm with intent
