July is National Park and Recreation Month! The Bettendorf Parks & Recreation Department is celebrating its favorite month of the year! July is the National Recreation and Park Association's Park and Recreation Month, and this year's theme is "Build Together, Play Together." Launched in 1985, this year marks the 40th Anniversary of Park and Recreation Month. It's an opportunity to highlight the people, spaces, and programs that have built strong communities across the United State and right here in the City of Bettendorf. DID YOU KNOW: 96% of our residents are satisfied with the 'quality of parks and recreational amenities' in Bettendorf? (Source: Zencity Community Survey, November 2024-January 2025). During the NRPA's Park and Recreation Month, Bettendorf Parks & Recreation will celebrate park and recreation professionals and how they improve the lives of people of all ages across our area. Park and recreation programs and projects are essential to community health and well-being and help cultivate lifelong friendships, memories, and family bonds. Throughout July, Bettendorf Parks & Recreation will be posting on its Facebook Page and Instagram Page - using the hashtag #BuildTogetherPlayTogether to show examples that relate to each week's theme: Week 1 (June 29-July 5): Kick Off Park and Recreation Month Week 2 (July 6-12): Nature Connectedness, Environmental Awareness, and Resilience Week 3 (July 13-19): Building Resources and Spaces for Everyone Week 4 (July 20-26): Celebrating Programs, Spaces, and Resources We've Built Week 5 (July 27-August 2): Together Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond Happy Park and Recreation Month!
