HP Dimension with Google Beam Brings Human Connection into Sharper Focus

Today at Google Enterprise Summit, HP and Google announced the expanded availability of HP Dimension with Google Beam to customers in the U.S., Canada, the UK, France, Germany and Japan. For HP, this milestone opens the next phase for a new kind of communication technology designed to make remote conversations feel more natural, engaging, and human.

As AI takes on more routine tasks, the moments that create the most value become increasingly human. Building trust, making decisions, solving complex problems and strengthening relationships all depend on meaningful connection. HP Dimension with Google Beam is designed for those moments, helping people engage more naturally so the technology fades into the background, and the focus stays on the person across from you. Google's early research found that participants recalled 28% more information after a conversation and spent 14% more time looking at the other person's face compared with traditional video calls.1

From a technology experience to a human one

When HP and Google began working together on this experience, we set out to create a true-to-life 3D collaboration experience that could help people in different places feel much more naturally present with one another. The goal was to give organizations another choice for the moments when distance can take something significant away, complementing the traditional video calls people already rely on.

Early testers have described it as "mind-blowing," "very immersive" and even "magical" to see a lifelike 3D rendering of the person on the other end of the call.

Customers consistently highlight high impact scenarios where that presence matters most, including client conversations where trust is central, teams working through complex problems, leaders coaching or mentoring employees, recruiting consultations where fit and presence matter, and strategic working sessions where people need to read the room as much as the agenda.

Following a demonstration, a VP of Marketing Operations in the tech sector said that HP Dimension with Google Beam "could allow for an entirely different conversation" in one-to-one meetings with direct reports. A creative lead told us that meeting this way would be "energizing" for their teams. A Managing Partner from the financial services said they could see how "this technology could foster a real connection to help a potential investment opportunity." Together, that feedback points to an opportunity to make consequential conversations feel more focused and natural.

Bain and Company, an early pilot customer, trialed using HP Dimension with Google Beam for candidate recruitment calls, noting that it helped interviewers feel more confident assessing talent, giving them a clearer read on the subtle nuances of body language and eye contact that 3D presence makes possible.

This reinforces why direct experience matters. In customer discussions, the value often becomes clearest when people move beyond the feature list and sit down for a conversation that feels closer to being in the same room. HP Dimension with Google Beam gives organizations another option for conversations where being more fully present can make a meaningful difference.

Presence can change the conversation itself

Early in development, Google researchers observed 39% more nonverbal behavior in conversations compared with traditional video calls, including more hand gestures, head nods, and eyebrow movements. These findings suggest that a greater sense of presence can influence how naturally people interact and how much they take away from a conversation.1

This pattern extended to real workplace settings, where more than 87% of participants in an internal Google pilot reported that their HP Dimension with Google Beam meetings were better than traditional video conferencing experiences across measures such as presence, attentiveness, nonverbal communication and personal connection.1

A large display creates room for lifelike scale. The camera system is designed to preserve more natural eye contact without requiring users to wear additional devices. Spatial audio helps voices feel anchored in the conversation. Together, those choices help the technology demand less attention so the people in the conversation can receive more of it.

Technology is most useful when it sits in the background and allows people to focus on one another. A collaboration experience should ultimately be judged by the quality of the conversation it helps create.

The next phase is about learning at scale

HP Dimension with Google Beam adds a more immersive layer to our collaboration portfolio, designed for the moments where routine tools are not enough, and a greater sense of presence can have a meaningful impact. As it reaches more organizations, we will learn much more about where customers choose to use it and why.

Some of those use cases will be the ones we already recognize, but others may surprise us.

That is one of the most interesting things about innovation with a new collaboration solution. You can design the technology with a set of possibilities in mind, and then people show you the full scope of possibilities.
