From June 1 to 2 and 5 to 6, Mr. Leung Chun-ying, Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of GX Foundation, visited Fiji and paid a courtesy call on Fijian President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu. Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji Wang Yuan accompanied Mr. Leung to participate in activities.
Vice-Chairman Leung briefed on the projects carried out by the GX Foundation in Fiji, saying the Foundation is committed to supporting the prevention and control of dengue fever in Fiji and promoting health cooperation between China and Fiji.
President Lalabalavu welcomed Vice-Chairman Leung's visit to Fiji, spoke highly of the outcomes delivered by the GX Foundation's work in Fiji, and expressed Fiji's willingness to continue to strengthen cooperation with the Foundation.
During the visit, Vice-Chairman Leung attended the Memorandum of Understanding Document Exchange and Project Launching Ceremony Between GX Foundation and The Ministry of Health & Medical Services of Fiji for "National Dengue Fever and Other Vector-borne Disease Control Program in Fiji", and witnessed the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding between GX Foundation and Fiji National University. He also visited pilot project sites such as hospitals, markets, and schools.
