TUKWILA, WA - Today, Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson announced that he'd received a phone call from Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem informing him that President Donald Trump had signed Gov. Ferguson's request for an emergency declaration amid extreme flooding in Washington state.

U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA issued the following statement:

"Thank you for the fast emergency declaration! Thank you for helping respond to our infrastructure needs. Thank you for supporting our first responders. Thank you!" Sen. Cantwell said.

Yesterday, Sen. Cantwell -- who serves as ranking member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and senior member of the Finance Committee -- joined Washington state's entire congressional delegation in a letter to President Trump urging him to approve Gov. Ferguson's request for an expedited Emergency Declaration for the devastating storms and severe flooding hitting Washington state this week.
