Sears Lies About Trump's Devastating Health Care Cuts While Ignoring Rural Health Clinic Closures

New reporting from the Virginia Mercury highlights how Winsome Sears continues to lie about the devastating consequences of Donald Trump's deeply unpopular budget law that rips health care away from 350,000 Virginians, while refusing to speak out against the closure of three rural health care clinics in Virginia that came as a direct result of Trump's health care cuts.

Virginia Mercury reported that at a recent forum, "Earle-Sears said the new law's negative impacts on patients and hospitals were overstated and argued the state had sufficient reserves to weather any problems."

And despite reports that Trump's Medicaid cuts will cost Virginia hospitals $26 billion, Sears "cast doubt" about how much Virginia hospitals will lose and again claimed that "the state had sufficient reserves to weather any problems" - another lie that both Republicans and Democrats have called Sears out on.

Sears previously said Trump's budget law "does so many great things."

"As 350,000 Virginians face losing their health care and rural clinics close their doors thanks to Donald Trump's deeply unpopular budget law, Winsome Sears continues to downplay and lie about the devastating consequences of Trump's health care cuts," said DGA Communications Director Sam Newton. "Sears was available to say Trump's budget bill 'does so many great things' - why is she nowhere to be found as rural health clinics are closing their doors?"
