House Republicans Flip-Flop on Epstein, Vote To Protect Trump and Hide the Files Arrow

In response to House Republicans voting to hide the Epstein files, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"Republicans talked a big game about releasing the Epstein files during the campaign, and now they are chickening out. It doesn't matter how the GOP tries to spin it - either they lied to the American people to get elected, or they are lying now to protect Donald Trump from any accountability for his long association with an infamous sex trafficker. The GOP's continued flip-flopping is exposing them as the phony liars that they are."

TODAY: House Democrats forced a vote to release the Epstein files …

House Rules Democrats: "It's official: @HouseDemocrats are about to force a floor vote TODAY on releasing the EPSTEIN FILES.

"@RepMGS is going to offer a motion that will trigger an up or down vote on @RepRoKhanna's amendment to preserve and release records related to Jeffrey Epstein."

… and the GOP voted against releasing the files, protecting Trump even as their base revolts.

House Press Gallery: "The House ordered the previous question by a vote of 211-210."

NewsWire: "Trump is 'ratioed' on his own platform as MAGA fury erupts over Epstein scandal."

Washington Post: "Epstein outcry prompts warning to Trump from MAGA leaders: 'A huge risk'"

NBC News: "Trump faces a revolt from his MAGA base over the Epstein files"

Politico: "The Epstein Saga Has Splintered Trump's Movement Like Nothing Before"

Trump can't even make up his mind on if the Epstein files exist or not - campaigning on releasing the files, then claiming they don't exist, and now saying that they are not credible.

NPR: "Trump and some other top officials fed into [the Epstein] rumors, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI director Kash Patel, Deputy Director Dan Bongino. On the campaign trail, Trump hinted that he would release the Epstein files."

Associated Press: "Epstein 'client list' doesn't exist, Justice Department says, walking back theory Bondi had promoted"

Donald Trump: "Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration … They created the Epstein Files …"

Trump: "It's going to be up to [Bondi], whatever she thinks is credible, she should release."
