The Mile High City is helping homeowners achieve energy independence through the fourth round of the Switch Together program. Switch Together operates in communities across the United States. In Colorado, the program is supported by a partnership between national nonprofit Solar United Neighbors (SUN) and the City and County of Denver. The current round of the program opened on April 2, and more than 1,000 Colorado homeowners have already registered. The deadline to accept a proposal is June 18, 2025.
Switch Together helps Denverites leverage group purchasing power to secure discounted rooftop solar panels, battery storage systems, and electric vehicle charging equipment.
The program also offers solar education through online resources and in-person events. There will be a Solar 101 info session on Tuesday, May 20 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Table Public House. The event is free to join and open to anyone interested in going solar.
Hundreds of Denver homeowners have already transitioned to generating their own electricity through previous rounds of the program. Since 2023, 9,958 households have accepted an offer from Switch Together nationwide, including over 2,240 homes across Colorado.
"Denver is located in one of the most solar-friendly climates in the nation," said Elizabeth Babcock, Executive Director of Denver's Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency. "By providing solar discounts to homeowners and small businesses, the City and County of Denver is helping facilitate the transition from fossil fuels, which contribute to air pollution and climate change, to energy sources that are not only affordable and reliable but also sustainable and clean."
Tanner Simeon-Cox, Colorado Program Director for Solar United Neighbors, explains some of the benefits of going solar with Switch Together. "Through Switch Together, homeowners in Denver can take advantage of significant group savings. Additionally, our team offers expert, vendor-neutral guidance throughout the entire process-from your first consultation to completed installation and ongoing support."
Denverites who have already benefited from the program are sharing their positive experiences:
The program organizes a reverse auction with qualified installers who compete to offer their most competitive prices. This ensures participants receive a discount on a high-quality solar installation. The most recent Switch Together auction secured an average discount of $5,135. In addition to the group discount, Denver community members may qualify for the 30% federal tax credit as well as other local incentives. Through utilizing the power of group buying, Switch Together provides an excellent opportunity for Denverites to switch to renewable energy.
Visit SwitchTogether.com/Solar/Denver to register or learn more. The final day to register and accept a personal recommendation is June 18, 2025. Participants will receive a free personal recommendation upon registering. It is free to register. There is no obligation to accept an offer.
