Washington, D.C. - Congressman Eugene Vindman (Va.-07), member of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, secured $10 million in federal funding for the Marine Corps' Warfighting Lab (MCWL) at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia's Seventh District.
"As a 25-year Army veteran and Member of the House Armed Services Committee, I'm proud to have secured an additional $10 million for the continued success of the Marine Corps' Warfighting Lab at Quantico," said Vindman. "I voted to deliver this federal funding to invest in the resources we need to guarantee that our military remains the most lethal fighting force in the world. As global threats persist, I will always stand with the warfighters."
The United States Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) was established at Quantico in 1995 to improve current and future naval expeditionary warfare capabilities across the spectrum of conflict for current and future operating forces.
BACKGROUND
The NDAA authorizes defense policy and programs, while the Department of Defense Appropriations Act provides the funding to carry them out.
Earlier this year, Vindman fought for the continued authorization of this project in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). He then voted to pass the NDAA when it came to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in both September and December. The funding for this lab was appropriated in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Department of Defense Appropriations Act.
Vindman is a U.S. Army veteran. He served as an infantry officer and paratrooper including assignments in the 82D Airborne Division and as a company commander leading troops. Soon after, he transitioned to the U.S. Army Judge Advocate Generals (JAG) Corps. As a JAG, Vindman served as alaw of war advisor in Iraq; as the senior prosecutor in the busiest jurisdiction in the Army; and as a White House National Security Council (NSC) deputy legal advisor. In Congress, he sits on the House Armed Services Committee.
