MEMPHIS, Tenn. - At Sylvamo, building a stronger company starts with investing in people.
Across its operations, the company is focused on developing a skilled, engaged workforce by expanding access to training, education and career opportunities.
This approach is rooted in one of Sylvamo's priorities: developing its workforce through intentional capability building, clear pathways for growth and opportunities to broaden experience. In Brazil, that commitment is demonstrated through programs designed to expand education access, build technical skills and open doors to new career paths.
At its Mogi Guacu mill, the company partnered with a local college to offer a free 18-month technical course on industrial automation to employees. Combining classroom learning with hands-on training, participants gained skills in automation and advanced manufacturing.
The results are already making a difference. A total of 14 employees gained internal mobility for new roles in increasingly digital mill environments that better match skills and career goals.
"We want to invest in our people by providing the tools and confidence to grow," said Gabriela Tonon, global talent management and organizational development, involved in the program. "With an ultimate goal to attract and retain talent, we encourage employees to build new capabilities that support long-term career growth and ultimately make our operations stronger."
Through a partnership with Franco Montoro Municipal College, the company provides full scholarships for employees pursuing degrees in chemical engineering and business administration. Since 2023, 12 Sylvamo employees have received scholarships.
