North America’s Largest Automotive Conference for Engineers SAE International’s WCX World Congress Experience Returns to Detroit; April 8-10

More than 5,500 Industry Executives and Engineers Convene
to Discuss Technologies Impacting the Future of Automotive


WARRENDALE, Pa. (March 13, 2025) - SAE International®, the industry leader in connecting and educating mobility engineers, will host the 119th WCX™ World Congress Experience on April 8-10, 2025, at Huntington Place in Detroit, Mich. For the first time, WCX partners with three industry-leading events in North American manufacturing: SME's RAPID + TCT, America Makes' Technical Review & Exchange (TRX) and SME's AeroDef Manufacturing. This unparalleled colocation will foster the most dynamic exchange of ideas and expertise in advanced manufacturing to date (Attendees can move among all show floors).

WCX Fireside Chats and Keynote Speakers Include:

  • April 8, 10:30 a.m. - Ralph Gilles, Chief Design Officer, Stellantis, will discuss design considerations with regards to balancing customer loyalty with business drivers and regulatory compliance.
  • April 9, 10:30 a.m. - Jack Weast, Intel Fellow, Vice President and General Manager, Intel Automotive, will share his perspective on the rapid pace of innovation of the Chinese auto industry.
  • April 10, 10:30 a.m.- John Absmeier, CTO/Product & Technology, Woven by Toyota, will share the critical role software and artificial intelligence play in the future of zero accident transportation.

The WCX Leadership Summit highlights insights from industry-leading executives from Ford Motor Co., General Motors, Honda American Motor Co., Hyundai America Technical Center, JD Power and Associates, Karma Automotive, Lucid, Munro & Associates, Nissan Motor Co., NVIDIA, Rivian, Robert Bosch, Toyota Motor Corp. and many others!

In addition, WCX Technical Sessions offer deep-dive conversations into the application of technologies and research impacting the mobility industry. Additive and smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software-defined vehicles and safety are only a few of the industry hot-topics technical experts will be discussing.

The WCX Learning Lab features professional and technical insight from industry leaders and up-and-comers including college teams competing in the AutoDrive Challenge and innovative startups from the Global Automotive & Mobility Innovation Challenge (GAMIC) Finals.

  • April 7: 17th Annual Global Automotive & Mobility Innovation Challenge (GAMIC) Finals
  • April 8-10: Ride and Drive including a simulation of the SAE J3300 driver certification test.
  • April 8-10: General Motors' HYDROTEC Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Charging Demonstration: GM fuel cell engineers will demonstrate the use of HYDROTEC fuel cell technology to DC fast charge SAE WCX Ride and Drive EVs.
  • April 8-10: SAE Mobility History Committee Display featuring Imports and Their Impact on Vehicle Technology
  • April 9: All-new 2025 Lincoln Navigator Vehicle Event, hosted by SAE Detroit Section.

All attendees must be pre-registered as there will not be any onsite ticket sales. WCX attendees must check in at SAE WCX registration in Hall D to receive their badge in order to move between WCX, RAPID + TCT, America Makes' Technical Review & Exchange (TRX) and SME's AeroDef Manufacturing events.
