SUMMER ANNOUNCEMENTS

MONDAY, JUNE 3rd, 2024

GP Snack Packs will be available weekly this summer. Summer Snack Packs can be picked up during summer school or during office hours 8:00-2:00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays inGriggsville and Perry. Students who are already receiving Snack Packs during the school year, can simply come pick theirs up weekly. Any students who have not already been receiving Snack Packs, will need to have a Permission Slip signed by a parent or guardian prior to picking up their first Snack Pack.

Griggsville-Perry will be offering a summer camp for GP students currently enrolled in Grades K-6. Forms went home last week, if your student needs a form they are in the office. The camp will be held for a two-week session in June. Dates of the program is today through Friday and again next Monday thru Friday. Daily drop-off will be 8:30 a.m. and pick up will be 1:30 p.m. The sessions will be held in the Griggsville building. Breakfast and lunch will be offered daily.

When signing your child up, we ask that you commit to the entire two-week session. At the end of the session, there will be a field trip. Students will need to attend 7 out of the 10 days to attend the field trip. Weekly themes:

June Week #1- Camping, Insects and Bubbles!

June Week #2- Gardens, Olympics, and Beach Day!

This summer camp is designed to be fun and engaging. This is not an opportunity for students to gain credits/grades for promotion, but rather be fun and engaging for our students. They will participate in daily reading and math activities, but also complete STEM activities, team building and arts/crafts.

The offices will be open this week 8:00a.m. - 2:00p.m.

Forms have sent home for girls in grades 2-4 for Lady Eagles Basketball Camp with Lily Pepper scheduled for June 17th & 18th (4:00 - 5:30pm) in the Perry Gymnasium. Sign up before June 1 and receive a free T-shirt. Money will be accepted at the time of arrival on the 17th. For more information, call Coach MJ at 217-617-2194.

The 2024-2025 Master Schedule for the high school will not be completed by the end of the school year. For now, Ms. Dokey will be meeting with each student to review required classes they must take next year in order to graduate. Please watch for communication over the summer in regards to completing student schedules. Students will be able to select their electives on a first come, first serve basis starting with incoming seniors and working down to incoming freshmen. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Dokey.

JH Softball sign-ups are in the office for any incoming 5th-8th grade girl who is interested in playing softball in the fall for the Lady Eagles, should sign up in the office by providing your name, grade level for next year and a parent/guardian phone number. More information about Softball will be provided at a later date.

There will be a Cancer Benefit for Jake Bartlett on Saturday, June 29 3:00 -7:00p.m. at the North Pike Firehouse in Perry, IL. Pulled Pork Meal with sides and desserts for a free will donation. Will have live and silent auction, raffles: Traditional, 50/50, and 52 card. Jake has been diagnosed with Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia, which is a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (blood cell cancer). There is a Facebook page named "Bartlett Benefit" that has information and photos of some of the raffle items that have been donated, so far. We will be updating that as donations roll in. If anybody would like to donate an item or basket for the raffle, please have them contact Sheila Vose at 217-257-6610, and we can make arrangements to pick up or baskets/items can be dropped off at Jules Hair Salon at 209 S. Wall Street in Griggsville. All proceeds will go to Jake Bartlett and his family.
