Transportation Improvement Program Open House set for Jan. 12

The Tyler Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will hold an open house Monday, Jan. 12 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. to discuss a project delay for the widening of FM 2493 (Old Jacksonville Highway) and update the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The open house will be in the Tyler Development Center's Large Conference Room at 423 West Ferguson St.

The project, facilitated by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), was planned to widen Old Jacksonville Highway from 4 lanes to six lanes. Construction was set to begin in 2028 but is now anticipated to start in 2030. The Tyler Area MPO is responsible for transportation planning within the Tyler Metropolitan Area, which includes Tyler, Hideaway, Lindale, New Chapel Hill, Noonday, Whitehouse and Bullard.

At the open house, MPO staff will be available to answer questions and provide updates about the project. Those unable to attend the meeting can leave questions and comments about the FM 2493 widening or other MPO projects through the MPO website's Contact Us page or by emailing [email protected]. Comments will be presented to the Transportation Policy Committee when considering the amendment on Friday, Jan. 23.

This notice of public involvement is consistent with the MPO's adopted public participation plan and will satisfy the Federal Transit Administration's program of project requirements.
