HOUSE PASSES 2026 FARM BILL

WASHINGTON, D.C. - April 30, 2026 - Congressman Nick Langworthy today announced House passage of the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, a comprehensive Farm Bill that includes multiple provisions sponsored by Congressman Langworthy to strengthen rural communities across Western New York and the Southern Tier.

The legislation incorporates several of Congressman Langworthy's bills, including the GRAPE Act, MAPLE Act, SAP Act, CAREERS Act, and the Rural Telehealth and Education Enhancement Act, all aimed at supporting farmers, expanding rural economic opportunity, and improving access to critical services.

"As a former member of the Agriculture Committee, I know how much work and negotiation went into this legislation," said Congressman Langworthy. "This final package reflects real input from the farmers, producers, and growers from across the nation. I'm proud that several of my bills are included and will deliver direct benefits to Western New York and the Southern Tier. I'll always fight to make sure our rural communities have a seat at the table and the support they deserve."

In addition to his own provisions, Congressman Langworthy highlighted key reforms included in the bill, such as expanding SNAP eligibility to include hot foods like rotisserie chickens and addressing liability protections for pesticide manufacturers.

The bill passed the House by a vote of 224-200, with 14 Democrats voting in favor, marking the highest level of bipartisan support for a House Farm Bill since 2008. More than 96% of House Republicans supported the measure, the strongest Republican backing for a Farm Bill in history, underscoring a unified commitment to rural America.

Congressman Langworthy's Provisions Included in the Farm Bill:

• GRAPE Act (H.R. 292): Establishes a crop insurance program to protect table, wine, and juice grape growers from losses due to freeze events.
• MAPLE Act (H.R. 293): Expands the Seniors Farmers' Market Nutrition Program to include maple syrup as an eligible purchase.
• SAP Act (H.R. 289): Reauthorizes the Acer Access and Development Program and strengthens industry input in setting program priorities.
• CAREERS Act (H.R. 291): Expands workforce development in rural communities by strengthening the RISE Grant Program to address workforce shortages and skills gaps.
• Rural Telehealth and Education Enhancement Act (H.R. 290): Reauthorizes the Distance Learning and Telemedicine Program at $82 million annually for five years, supporting broadband infrastructure and telehealth access in rural areas.
