GULFPORT, Miss. - ICE Homeland Security Investigations agents arrested Lisa White, of Mississippi, following an investigation into threats made against ICE agents.
HSI Gulfport special agents took White into custody in Long Beach after reports that she made explicit threats to "kill federal agents," while attempting to purchase a firearm and pepper spray. According to reports, White inquired about the capability of specific firearms to penetrate ballistic vests, saying she would target agents' heads if she could not breach their armor. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents responded to the scene, conducted interviews, and located and arrested White.
There has been a massive increase in violence and threats against federal law enforcement. ICE officers are facing more than a 1,600% increase in assaults against them, a 3,300% increase in vehicle attacks and an 8,000% increase in death threats against them.
President Trump and Secretary Mullin have made it clear that violence against ICE officers, or any law enforcement personnel, will not be tolerated. ICE officers carry out their Congressionally mandated duties in service to public safety and the rule of law. Any bystander or individual who threatens, assaults, obstructs, or violently attacks officers will be subject to arrest and prosecution permitted by law.
"The safety of our personnel is paramount, and HSI takes any threat against federal law enforcement officers with the utmost seriousness," said HSI Gulfport Assistant Special Agent in Charge Matthew Reidell. "We commend the vigilance of the citizens for recognizing these threats and notifying law enforcement immediately, which allowed us to intervene swiftly."
White is currently being held as agents prepare federal criminal charges for influencing, impeding or retaliating against a federal official by threat.
The investigation is ongoing.
