The City's mobile emergency operations vehicle is being stationed along Route 31 beginning Tuesday, January 7 for the teams that will be conducting outreach and needs surveys with individuals at the homeless encampment known as Tent City. The operations vehicle will be on site from 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 7 through end of day on Thursday, January 9. This will not impact traffic or access on Route 31.

Between January 7-17, 2025, the Elgin Police Department will conduct a survey to assess residents' needs, including considerations for pets or family members, to plan appropriate accommodations. The City remains committed to approaching this process with care and respect for all community members.

During this survey, a notice with next steps will be provided to Tent City residents regarding their relocation to the Lexington Inn, including temporary accommodations, support services, and instructions for vacating the area and managing personal belongings.
