Barings, one of the world's leading global alternative investment managers, today announced that it acted as lead lender on senior secured financing for Surgical Precision Instruments GmbH ("SPI"), a MedTech contract development and manufacturing group backed by Gilde Healthcare. The financing supported SPI's acquisitions of Hermann Medizintechnik ("Hermann") and BENTEC Endoscopy ("BENTEC"), refinanced existing facilities and provides additional capacity for further growth.
The acquisitions significantly expand SPI's scale and capabilities. BENTEC adds complementary manufacturing expertise in flexible and semi-flexible endoscopy instruments and Hermann broadens the group's manufacturing capacity and capabilities in implant systems and customised surgical instruments. Following the acquisitions, SPI has more than 500 employees across seven sites in the DACH region, with sales approaching €100 million.
SPI brings together specialist manufacturers serving medical device companies across neurosurgery, minimally invasive surgery, robotics and orthopaedics. Gilde Healthcare has built the group through the acquisitions of Chr. Diener, Koscher & Würtz, Rudischhauser, BENTEC and Hermann, and intends to continue its expansion through organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
