BIMSTEC Cancer Care Capacity Building Program (July 07, 2025)

The 1st phase of the BIMSTEC Cancer Care Capacity-building Program, organized by Ministry of External Affairs and Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), was launched on July 07, 2025 at Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai. The BIMSTEC Cancer Care Capacity-building Program is part of the 21-point Action Plan for BIMSTEC cooperation announced by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi at the 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok.

2. The 1st phase, launched by Dr. A K Mohanty, Secretary DAE will see 21 participants from BIMSTEC countries trained in a 4-week long program in Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiology. This initiative by India, in line with its Neighborhood First policy, will pave the way for cooperation in the critical area of cancer care, addressing health challenges of the peoples of the BIMSTEC region.
