Kian Capital Partners, a lower-middle-market-focused private investment firm, is proud to announce its partnership with Allen Supply, a trusted family-owned and operated distributor of commercial doors and hardware accessories. Allen Supply also subsequently completed the add-on acquisition of TAP Industries, a leading distributor of commercial metal and architectural wood doors, frames, hardware, bathroom partitions and accessories.
Founded in 1950, Allen Supply serves Michigan-based clients from facilities in Saginaw and Traverse City, providing commercial metal and architectural wood doors and hardware, as well as residential doors and hardware. Over the last 76 years, Allen Supply has built and maintained strong, long-standing customer relationships through superior technical knowledge and capabilities, and deep inventory backed by access to leading industry vendors.
"Kian's experience in the value-added distribution sector, as well as their focus on founder and family-owned businesses and maintaining company culture and building value, is what made them an easy choice as a partner for Allen Supply's next phase of growth," said Allen Supply President Mike Hirschman. "With the support of the Kian team, we look forward to expanding our reach and bringing our expertise and high-quality products to more customers across the Midwest and Central U.S."
Allen Supply also recently acquired TAP Industries, a regional Tennessee-based distributor of commercial doors, frames, hardware, bathroom partitions and accessories, founded in 1983. The company serves general contractor customers in Tennessee and across the Central U.S. TAP provides superior technical knowledge, prompt customer service and competitive pricing to its diverse and longstanding client base of general contractors that build schools, manufacturing facilities, health clinics and other commercial structures.
"The TAP team is excited to join forces with Allen Supply to combine best practices and expand the geographical footprint of the platform," said TAP President Bill Killen, who will continue with the business. "Together, we'll be able to enhance our respective capabilities and product offerings and set our sights on becoming a one-stop, turnkey distributor for our customers."
Looking forward, the platform will seek to build on its multi-regional presence through organic growth initiatives and the pursuit of strategic M&A opportunities. Kian plans to support the platform as it looks to expand into adjacent product categories and deepen its service offering.
"Allen Supply and TAP Industries are longstanding leaders in their respective geographies, each with a reputation for strong technical expertise, dependable product availability and loyal customers," said Kian Partner Matt Levenson. "The Kian team is excited to partner with both companies to continue this legacy and position the combined platform for continued success. The U.S. door, hardware and access control market is highly fragmented, yet dynamic, driven by aging infrastructure, rising construction and renovation activity and an increased focus on security. We believe this is an exciting opportunity to build an innovative, full-service value-added distribution platform serving commercial clients."
The platform is actively seeking partnerships with leading commercial door and hardware distributors across the Midwest and Central U.S. Business owners interested in learning more should contact David Duke, Partner, Business Development at Kian, at [email protected].
