The County of Sonoma is currently looking for volunteers to help with the 2026 Point-in-Time Count! The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a day in which local government staff and volunteers come together and go out into community to collect data about the number of individuals experiencing homelessness in their respective communities. The Point-in-Time Count is a federal requirement for government jurisdictions interested in receiving federal homeless assistance funds. It also provides critical data for understanding local homelessness and supporting strategic decisions about the County's homeless support programs.
Volunteers are an integral part of the Point-in-Time Count effort, providing robust assistance in the data collection of our unhoused neighbors. On the day of the PIT Count, volunteers will meet at a central deployment site and organize into teams which will drive or walk their assigned routes, conducting visual tallies of persons experiencing homelessness throughout Sonoma County. Volunteers in Santa Rosa and Petaluma will meet at their respective deployment locations at 5:00AM. Volunteers from other Sonoma County communities will meet at their deployment sites at 6:00AM.Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own vehicles to assist in the count if possible.

Thank you once again for your interest and participation in the 2026 Sonoma County PIT Count. We look forward to seeing you on January 30, 2026!
