Airstrike on Beirut

The Brazilian government condemns the Israeli airstrike carried out yesterday on a densely populated residential area in the Dahiyeh suburb, in southern Beirut, which resulted in the deaths of at least 31 individuals, including three children and seven women.

The Brazilian government is following this latest incident in the escalation of regional tensions with deep concern.

Brazil urges all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and to immediately cease the attacks, which risk driving the region into a broader conflict.

Brazil reaffirms its conviction of the urgent need to establish a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as a means of preventing the spread of hostilities to other areas of the Middle East.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Embassy of Brazil in Beirut, continues to closely monitor the situation of Brazilian nationals in Lebanon and to provide necessary guidance to the Brazilian community. The consular emergency service for Brazilian nationals can also be reached via phone at +55 (61) 98260-0610 (including through WhatsApp).
