USGBC's Pacific region is thrilled to have the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo back in Los Angeles from Nov. 4-7, 2025. With the tremendous amount of green activity in the region, we need your support to show off the leadership of our community to thousands of Greenbuild visitors from around the globe. California has ranked in the Top 10 States for LEED for 14 consecutive years. We are excited to collaborate with our aligned community partner USGBC California.
Apply to join the 2025 Greenbuild Host Committee.
The host committee is composed of USGBC members and partners who are engaged in the local market where Greenbuild is being held. Primary functions include
The Host Committee will be led by two co-chairs, who are the primary leaders of our Greenbuild efforts, supported by staff from USGBC. The Host Committee co-chairs will help to plot our overall vision and will work with subcommittees to set and ensure the meeting of goals and timelines. This committee will also be populated by the chair of each subcommittee and USGBC regional staff.
Volunteering for the Host Committee is a unique opportunity for local professionals to go behind the scenes of this international event and make it a memorable celebration for our community. Committee work offers opportunities to grow personally and professionally, to network with the region's sustainability leaders, and to better the global green economy.
Committee chairs will be recognized and receive complimentary conference registrations to Greenbuild 2025. Subcommittee members will have an opportunity to attend the conference at a discounted rate.
The host committee and subcommittee members are expected to contribute 5-15 hours per month from February through November. Committee chairs and vice chairs are expected to spend up to 20 hours per month on their work. Most subcommittees will meet at least monthly; however, actual timelines will be determined by the committee chair and the tasks that need to be accomplished.
The Host Committee is divided into subcommittees to focus on the development and execution of specific components of the committee's charge. Each subcommittee will be led by a chair and vice chair and made up of around 5-10 additional volunteer committee members. Subcommittees focus on partnerships, Greenbuild tours, sustainability and the Legacy Project. The Host Committee will also provide input to the Greenbuild Program Working Group.
Legacy Project Subcommittee
This subcommittee's objective is to identify and execute a legacy project as a means of service, education and gratitude to the local community for hosting Greenbuild; there is an option to fundraise additional dollars for the project beyond seed money provided by Informa and USGBC. The Legacy Project Subcommittee also helps recruit applicants for the Greenbuild scholarship and volunteer opportunities.
Tours Subcommittee
This subcommittee's objective is to provide Greenbuild attendees with innovative and educational green building tours. Help identify and select green building tour sites and circuits, to plan and coordinate the tour program. Execute the green building tour program on-site, in coordination with USGBC.
Sustainability Subcommittee
This subcommittee's objective is to improve the overall greening of the event by finding regional students and emerging professionals who will volunteer to support the overall Greenbuild sustainability program. Members of the subcommittee will provide local insights relating to sustainability to Greenbuild management. This subcommittee does outreach through higher education, professional organizations and other networks to recruit volunteers.
The Greenbuild 2025 Volunteer Expression of Interest form is now open.
Interested candidates must complete an online application form detailing availability, interest, professional background, USGBC experience, skills and attributes.
Subcommittee chairs and vice chairs will be appointed by USGBC staff and the Greenbuild Host Committee co-chairs. Subcommittee member roles will be subsequently filled; there will be a limit to group numbers, depending on the committee. Final committee makeup is subject to USGBC approval.
Applications are due by midnight on Friday, Jan. 31. Please reach out via email with any additional questions.
