Las Vegas City Council Ratifies New Communications Director

New Director Will Lead City Communication Efforts

At today's Las Vegas City Council meeting, the City Council unanimously ratified Meghin Delaney to serve as the city's next communications director. Delaney was previously media relations manager for NV Energy. She was selected for the position by City Manager Mike Janssen, pending council ratification.

Delaney will be responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the city's Office of Communications, as well as working closely with city leadership and ensuring that information from the city is quickly and accurately disseminated to the public.

Delaney has previously served as communications director for the Nevada Governor's Office from 2020 through 2022. She also worked in communications in banking and higher education, before her most recent position as media relations manager at NV Energy.

Delaney began her career as a journalist working at newspapers in New York, Florida and Nevada. She was the education reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal from December 2016 through January 2019.

Delaney is a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. She has a Master of Public Administration degree from UNLV. She also holds an Accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America.
