Brief Trail Closures at Pillar Point Bluff Extended to Oct. 10

FAA Safety Precautions During Helicopter Activity
October 9, 2024

Sporadic trail closures on Pillar Point Bluff trails have been extended to Thurs., Oct. 10 due to fog that prevented helicopter flights the previous day. When flights resume, safety flaggers will halt trail use while supplies are transported by helicopter from Half Moon Bay Airport to US Fish and Wildlife structures on the Farallon Islands.

These safety precautions are required by the Federal Aviation Administration while helicopters carry heavy, sling-loaded payloads over the trails. The brief stoppage of all trail activity is expected to last approximately 5 minutes when helicopters are in flight.

For everyone's safety please adhere to the directions of the safety flaggers.
