Houston Trails – Get Away from the City within the City!

Houston, Texas, is not typically known for its trails or outdoor exploration, although that doesn't mean it doesn't have great walking trails to get your adventure needs in! These trails can help you feel like you are away from the hustle and bustle of Houston to where it almost feels like an adventure away from the city - within the city! Several Camden apartment communities are conveniently located near these walkable trails and outdoor parks. Whether you are looking to start your fitness goals or just "get away" from the city, there's a trail near your Camden home!

Buffalo Bayou Park

One of the most popular parks in Houston, with wonderful walking trails and outdoor scenery, is Buffalo Bayou Park. This 169-acre green space is located just west of Downtown Houston and has beautiful greenery, hiking trails, a dog park, and wonderful areas to sit down and, relax and have a picnic to enjoy the outdoors. Our Midtown Camden properties are located within just a short distance from Buffalo Bayou Park. These communities include Camden City Centre, Camden McGowen Station, and Camden Travis Street. Even if you are not feeling as adventurous but looking for a short "getaway," Midtown Park is located right behind Camden McGowen Station and across the street from Camden Travis Street. Midtown Park is a lush oasis in the city - Walk around the greenery and see amazing downtown views from your picnic site (right outside your Camden apartment home!) Visiting Buffalo Bayou Park or even the short walk to Midtown Park after moving into your new Camden apartment home is a must - you will love the convenience of getting away!

Memorial Park Conservancy

Not too far from Buffalo Bayou Park is another beautiful green oasis, a "getaway" from the city called Memorial Park Conservancy. Memorial Park Conservancy is Houston's largest urban park with miles of hiking trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, and sports fields. A majority of the walking trail is hidden among large pine trees and other native trees to give the feeling of walking through a forest away from the city. You can have hours of walking and protection from the sun with Houston's native trees! Camden has three communities within minutes of Memorial Park Conservancy - these include Camden Plaza, Camden Greenway, and one of our high-rise communities, Camden Post Oak.

Brays Bayou Trail

Another Camden community, located just a short walk away from a public hike-and-bike trail, is Camden Vanderbilt, which is right down the street from the Brays Bayou trail. The Brays Bayou trail is more than 30 miles of public green space and hike-and-bike trails that pass through Hermann Park, MacGregor Park, Gus Wortham Golf Course, and Mason Park. You can make it a personal fitness goal to hike further and further each time, reaching new goals and exploring within this urban greenery. If you work in the Texas Medical Center, you can also bike along this trail, which leads directly into the Texas Medical Center for a fit and traffic-free commute!
