On September 4, the opening ceremony of the Local Seminar on Digital Development of the Healthcare Sector for Guyana, a China-aid bilateral training program, was held in Georgetown. H.E.Ambassador Yang Yang and Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony, Minister of Health attended and delivered remarks. Representatives of China Sinopharm International Corporation, the Chinese expert team, and more than 60 Guyanese participants also attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Yang said that the seminar represents another concrete step by China and Guyana to embrace the digital transformation of healthcare and strengthen human resources development and capacity building. China stands ready to continue supporting Guyana in cultivating more local professionals and promoting better coordination among talent, technology and infrastructure, injecting new impetus into the joint development of the Health Silk Road.

Minister Anthony thanked China for its longstanding support for Guyana's health sector and noted that digital technologies play an important role in improving the efficiency of healthcare delivery and management. He encouraged the participants to make full use of the seminar, apply what they learn in practice, and contribute to the continued development of Guyana's healthcare sector.
